Nov 15th-16th though bubble leeds! (myself and Anthony have a table selling HAMSTER PUNK!!!)
I don’t usually put these kind of thoughts up on the internet, but something annoyed me way more than I expected to be annoyed so early in the morning today.
I was looking at a baby item (a headband, I think) and the title on the front said ‘be girlie early’. As a lifelong tomboy I resent that and find the very notion ABHORENT! That you would dress a BABY in something SO conforming so early!
When I was a kid I climbed trees, I wore whatever, I rolled in mud and not ONCE was I told that I should be more girlie.
Children should be allowed to like whatever takes their fancy and we should NOT be able to instil in them OUR society based fears and perpetrations upon them. ESPECIALLY when they’re THAT young. They aren’t even aware of what you’re forcing on them, and they won’t understand why you wouldn’t let them do what they wanted.
Maybe, the people who try to force kids to conform should take a big long look at themselves and why they feel uncomfortable with why Timmy is playing with a doll and why Jessica DOESN’T play with dolls.
I feel so sorry for kids who are told, ‘no son, you can’t play with that, it’s too girlie.’ Or ‘ no girl, stop doing that people will think you’re a boy.’ Give a kid a freeking chance!
Anyways, I’m sorry guys, I wanted to vent and since my husband is away at police college and I’m chained to my desk until I get my current project done you guys have to bear the brunt of my musings.
I should do this more often. Felt good. What do you guys think? Is this how you were brought up?
